On the farm this week were cleaning garlic, picking lots of leafy greens, packing lots of onions and squash, getting fields prepared for cover crop seed, and relishing in a lot of "lasts" for the season. The last of the peppers, tomatoes and flowers are getting harvested. The plant remnants will soon be worked back into the soil or will be removed from the field and composted. Dear CSA Members, A rainbow of color appears in your Crop Shares this week. Its peak time for crops on the farm where summer crops coalesce with the first fall crops and the harvest is COLORFUL! Smokey conditions delayed the ripening of red, yellow, and orange tomatoes and peppers two weeks ago, but tomatoes are back now. Green and purple kales and rainbow chard are about to return.
