By joining Camas Swale Farm’s CSA, both Farm and Member are agreeing to share in the risk and rewards of the harvest.
Crop Surplus
-
When Farm has surplus crops, Farm will provide Member with as much as possible, but Farm does not want to overwhelm Member with products that may go to waste.
-
When Farm experiences surplus, Farm will make excess crops available to our local food pantry, and other non-profits focused on community food security, and/or invite members to harvest excess crops, or set out excess crops for members to pick up on own.
-
Farm also sells produce to local grocers, chefs and hot sauce processors. Farm does not segregate CSA production, but CSA production does receive our priority. In the event of a crop surplus, other markets will be served after Farm has satisfied Member’s shares.
Crop Loss
-
If crop failure due to factors such as inclement weather does happen, Camas Swale Farm’s normal policy is as follows to give Members other crops ready to harvest. In the very rare event that a major crop is lost, the farm will evaluate others options including buying the crop from another local farm.
-
In the severe event that more than 50% of total farm crops are lost, CSA members may choose to terminate their crop share and a refund of 50% of the remaining value of the share is available.
-
Mutual benefit will always be the Farm's goal.
Communications between Farm and Member
-
The best way to communicate with the Farm is via email. Our email is camasswalefarmcsa@gmail.com. Farm will do our best to respond as soon as possible, but please understand that we spend much of our time in the field growing your food and are not always able to send a same day response. Please contact us with any news of the following: changes to your postal or email address, problems with your pick up location, or dissatisfaction with your share.
-
We will communicate with Members primarily by email. When you sign up, you will be added to our distribution list. Please regularly read your email from the Farm. We depend on being able to communicate important information such as necessary changes to your distribution schedule or notices of our Farm events. We will do our best to post which crops are available that week via our weekly newsletters. The newsletter contains recipe ideas and farm-related news and are emailed to members before CSA delivery and posted on our website at www.camasswalefarm.com/blog.
Member responsibilities
